For many people, the Playboy mansion was a safe haven from the paparazzi and private detectives. A married comedian came for years, bringing different girls to have sex with. I had to take many food trays into the room where he was with these girls.
And that's why Playboy's "girl next door" had to go, because it couldn't compete with the growing misogyny and explicitness of modern mainstream porn, in which a so-called "bitch" or "slut" supposedly prefers being gagged with a penis to gazing at the camera provocatively as she picks flowers in the nude.

\"I called her a woman-child,\" Mario Casilli, the photographer who shot Stratten's test shots, told \"20/20\" in a 1985 interview. \"When you looked at her, she was a total lady. ... Had this statuesque look, but when you talked to her, she was still a little girl.\"
Snider was eventually caught with another girl, according to former Playboy social secretary Alison Reynolds, who also did Stratten's make-up. Reynolds said security kicked him off the property and that they would only allow him back if he came with Stratten.
Laurman said she was at the house on that morning but left because she knew Stratten was coming to visit Snider. Cushner said he hadn't been home all day because he'd spent the previous night at a girlfriend's home and then gone to work in the morning.
The new docuseries Secrets of Playboy exposes the global porn brand and its founder, pimp and alleged rapist Hugh Hefner, for exploitation, abuse and mistreatment of women. But Playboy has a long history of sexually exploiting not only women, but girls too.
Playboy is premised on the sexual objectification of women and girls. This is precisely what it stands for. It cannot be improved, and it cannot be separated from its long history of mainstreaming and endorsing the sexual abuse and exploitation of women. This is what Playboy is.
Right off the bat in A&E's docuseries "Secrets of Playboy," one of Hefner's ex-girlfriends, Holly Madison, says the legacy dust isn't settled yet. He died in 2017 at age 91, escaping the #MeToo tornado of takedowns of other powerful Hollywood men.
People magazine published an open letter signed by hundreds of former Playboy bunnies, Playmates, ex-girlfriends and employees denouncing "Secrets of Playboy" and the allegations it makes against Hefner.
The final episode pushes back on criticism of the series. It features Sondra Theodore, one of Hefner's ex-girlfriends and leading accusers, and Susie Krabacher, a former Playmate who says Hefner drugged and raped her.
Theodore says she once saw Hefner force himself on a sleeping girl. "Whether they consented or not, if he wanted something, he would take it," she says. "He'd say, 'Did they think they would stay in my house and not sleep with me?' "
Jennifer Saginor says girls were invited to live at her father's "mini" mansion and were available for sex with visiting men, after being told they could get a modeling contract. Instead, they were drugged, raped and videotaped, and then blackmailed into silence with the threat the tape would be released, according to Jennifer Saginor and Jackie Hatten, a former regular at the Playboy Mansion who says she saw what went on at the "mini-mansions."
"Playboy had an obligation to protect us girls, especially the photos and videos, and (instead) they they just opened the floodgates and let them go," says ex-Playmate Dona Speir. "It's all about the money."
Theodore has a long list of allegations against Hefner, with whom she lived as his No. 1 girlfriend for five years from the late 1970s to early 1980s. Often weeping, she describes herself as a 19-year-old "sweet, angelic, naive" girl when she met Hefner (who was 50 at the time), fell "in love" with him and moved into the Playboy Mansion, only to discover later that she wasn't No. 1 and that she would be forced or manipulated into sexual acts.
The king of pornography lavished his girlfriend Jeanette with $120,000 in cash, statuettes from Greece, and dinner rings. She wore his diamond pendant around her neck, and believed that one day she would become Mrs. Thevis. Once, she ordered the wedding dress and told her mother to prepare for the big day. Thevis even made it to the courthouse steps with the divorce papers, only to turn back. Being divorced would make him look bad in the eyes of a jury, he believed, as the threat of prosecution loomed.
After school she worked as a nurse at St George's Hospital in London, and enjoyed it. But "everything changed" on her 22nd birthday, when she met her husband and life-long partner, Humphry Knipe. "I went from being a good girl to being introduced to the world," she says. "I was half a virgin when I met him."
This new world involved getting stoned, swinging and joining the burgeoning free love society. Anecdotes about this time are short and sweet. There was Amsterdam's Wet Dream Festival, which sought to explore communication through nudity and sex. According to Humphry, "They made you watch porno movies all day and screw all night. There were mattresses thrown on the floors. There were about five times as many guys as girls. People would come off the streets to watch, and say 'Can't you do any better!?'" There were the weekly swingers' parties ("like church: you had to show up"), one of which the Metropolitan Police raided, looking for drugs. Since everyone was naked and unsearchable, Suze says the police's only option was to carry off the fish tank in case the brown residue on its walls was hashish.

Hefner's loved life was complicated with numerous partners over the course of his life, including three wives and seven longtime partners, or girlfriends. However, Hefner would often date more than one woman at a time and frequently engaged in open sexual relationships.
It is difficult to quantify the exact number of partners Hefner had as he dated up to at least seven women at the same time. His list of known longtime girlfriends includes Holly Madison, Izabella St. James, Brande Roderick, Kendra Wilkinson, Bridget Marquardt, and Tina Marie Jordan. Madison was often described as Hefner's "number one" girl, but the pair ended their relationship in 2008.
In January 2022, the A&E television network released a 10-part docuseries that included serious allegations of misconduct and abuse against Hefner made by some of his ex-girlfriends and lovers. Madison claimed she was afraid to leave the mansion because Hefner allegedly had a "mountain of revenge" and noted he did not use protection during sex. Others lovers like Theodore claimed Hefner was a "groomer" and that drug abuse was frequent at the mansion.

The reality star, who lived with Hefner at the mansion as one of his main girlfriends from 2001 to 2008 and appeared with him on the E! reality show "The Girls Next Door," went on to describe the first time she had sex with Hefner and other women, after they all returned to the mansion from a night out.
"The problem is, Hef doesn't like to use protection," Kristina said. "From the butlers, we'd just order a big bowl and we'd put hot water in it. Then, we'd put rags in it. So whoever was having intercourse with him, when they were finished, they can wipe him off. And then the other girl could do it."
According to several Playmates and one of Hefner's ex-girlfriends, the routine weigh-ins to ensure the women living at the mansion stayed at what Playboy deemed "that perfect weight," had negative effects on their physical and mental health. 2ff7e9595c
